PILATES

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Pilates strengthens the muscles that support the spine (the neck, shoulders, abs, hips and thighs) to bring balance into the body. Most body aches and pains are due to muscular imbalance. Pilates helps to realign the spine in order to decrease tension, increase flexibility, and strengthen the body from the inside out.



INSTRUCTORS

Karen Fierberg

Karen is a Certified Yoga Teacher trained at the Samata International Yoga & Health Institute by Larry Payne Ph.D. and also a Certified Yoga Therapist trained at Loyola Marymount University. She has completed over 300 hours of yoga training that includes, but is not limited to, coursework in human physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, the musculoskeletal system, and the biology of pain. She is trained in teaching Mat Pilates in the traditional “New York” (“Joseph Pilates”) method. Her skills come from not only her clinical training but also from her experience working with and coaching individuals who wish to increase their flexibility, physical performance and overall well-being. Karen teaches safe and effective classes in an atmosphere that is supportive and fun for students at all levels.She is also CPR/AED certified
